You’re Waiting for a Patch Instead of Adapting

Some players, when the meta shifts or a strategy stops working, submit a complaint ticket and wait. They’re convinced the developers made an error. The old way should have kept working. If they just wait long enough, they’ll fix it.

The patch doesn’t come. Or when it does, it changes something else entirely.

The entrepreneurs who get stuck at growth plateaus often have a version of this mindset. The algorithm will correct. The market will come back. Interest rates will normalize. The competitor will make a mistake. The environment will become favorable again.

Sometimes patience is strategic. But waiting for external conditions to rescue your strategy is not patience. It’s passivity.

Markets change. Distribution platforms change. Economic conditions change. Customer behavior changes. The businesses that grow through change are the ones that adapt their model to the current environment rather than defending the model that worked in the old one.

This is genuinely hard. The strategy that produced your success feels like the right strategy, because it worked. Changing it feels like abandoning something that shouldn’t be abandoned. There’s an emotional attachment to the approach that built what you have.

But the game is always updating. The question is whether you’re updating with it.

The best operators treat every market shift as information, not injustice. They look at what changed, figure out what that means for their model, and adjust. Sometimes small adjustments. Sometimes significant pivots.

They don’t wait for a patch.

What’s changed in your market or environment recently… and have you actually adapted your approach, or are you hoping things revert?
