Mounts are supposed to be faster. That’s the whole point. But in certain games, badly configured routes, unfamiliar terrain, or the wrong mount for the environment means you would have arrived faster on foot.

Some of the systems, tools, and platforms you’re using to scale your business are your mount. And some of them are slower than walking.

The CRM that requires more manual input than the spreadsheet it replaced. The project management tool that the team uses inconsistently, creating more confusion than clarity. The automation sequence that requires constant manual intervention to actually function. The expensive software subscription that’s solving a problem you don’t actually have yet.

Tools should multiply output. When they don’t… when they become administrative overhead that consumes time without producing leverage… they’re not a mount. They’re a liability with a monthly fee.

The plateau-era trap is believing that adding more infrastructure is the same as building a better business. It’s not. Infrastructure serves the work. When the infrastructure starts requiring more work than it produces, you’ve gotten it backwards.

Audit your stack. Not the vision for what each tool could do… what it’s actually doing right now, for the people currently using it. Kill what isn’t working. Simplify ruthlessly.

A lean, clean, actually-used system beats a complex, theoretically powerful, partially-adopted one every single time.

The best operations aren’t the most elaborate. They’re the ones people actually follow.

Get on the mount that’s faster than walking. Abandon the one that isn’t.
