You Built a Guild With No Healer

Every experienced raider knows: DPS wins fights, but healers win raids.

You can stack your team with high-output performers. Smart people. Fast executors. People who can create, sell, build, and move. But if nobody is holding the team together… sustaining morale, managing conflict, keeping the culture functional under pressure… your guild wipes on hard content.

The “healer” role in a business team looks different in every organization. Sometimes it’s an operations person who creates order from chaos. Sometimes it’s a leader with genuine emotional intelligence. Sometimes it’s a culture-keeper who ensures the team doesn’t fracture when things get hard.

Whatever the form, most early-stage entrepreneurs undervalue it completely.

They hire for output. They recruit for skill. They onboard people who can produce. The care and maintenance of the team as a human system is an afterthought… until it isn’t, until the burnout or the conflict or the quiet resignation of a key person makes it impossible to ignore.

I’ve seen high-performing teams implode not because they lacked talent, but because the team itself was never treated as something that needed tending. Nobody was the healer.

Assess your team right now. Who holds people together? Who makes sure the hard conversations happen? Who manages the health of the group, not just the output?

If the answer is nobody, that’s a critical missing role. And if the answer is “I do that,” ask yourself whether you’re actually doing it… or just assuming you are.

Who on your team is responsible for the health of the team itself… and are they actually empowered to do that job?
