It all happened pretty fast. 

My business partner Tony messaged me late Friday.

“Hey, Ray. Remember that program we promoted to help high school students create their online school this summer?” he said.

“Umm… ya,” I replied. “I thought we didn’t get enough people to sign up so we decided not to do it.”

“We didn’t,” he said. “But how about you launch it anyway? Some of these families are also paying for our other business and it would make them happy.”

“Which program did these parents sign up for?” I asked.

“Some of them signed up for the big one,” he replied.

“Damn,” I said.

“Yup,” he answered. I could feel him willing me to say yes through Slack.

“When is it supposed to start?”

“Monday.”

“This Monday?”

“Yup.”

“Damn.”

And that’s how my weekend disappeared.

This could have been a disaster. But it wasn’t. Because I already had the base.

The tech stack was ready. The curriculum was mapped. The accountability structure was baked in. The teacher? Me. Slightly tired, slightly over-caffeinated, but ready.

That school launched on time. Students logged in. Calls happened. Content delivered. Everyone got value.

I didn’t build it in 72 hours. I activated it in 72 hours. 

That’s a huge difference.
