I’ve done it, I have figured out the secret to student success and there is good news and bad news.

The bad news is… it involves math.

The good news is that I have broken down the math below.

You see, teaching transformation is simple… but not easy.

There’s a formula for it:

Knowledge + Action = Transformation

Most online courses stop at the first half. They dump knowledge on students like a Mario Kart banana peel and then wonder why nobody crosses the finish line.

But in today’s world, knowledge is cheap.

ChatGPT can write your essays. YouTube can teach you to code. Your uncle Larry can lecture you about geopolitics after two beers.

What’s scarce is Action.

Action is the bridge between information and transformation. It’s the boss level. And if you’re building a Productized Education business, where real humans teach real students, backed by digital tools, your real job is not to teach knowledge.

Your job is to teach Action.

To do that, there’s another formula:
Clarity + Accountability + Connection = Action

We call it your CAC Factor.
Not to be confused with Customer Acquisition Cost. This CAC actually makes you money instead of costing it.

Let’s break it down like the algebra class you swore you’d never use in real life:

Clarity = Destination + Path

• Destination: A clearly defined outcome your student can picture
  
• Path: A step-by-step map on how to get there
  

If your student doesn’t know what the “win condition” is, or how to reach it, they’ll freeze like a newbie in the Zelda: Breath of the Wild menu screen.

Accountability = Structure + Monitoring + Consequences

• Structure: Weekly routines, systems, or tools that create rhythm
  
• Monitoring: Someone (you, a coach, software) is keeping track
  
• Consequences: Social or personal pressure to follow through
  

Think of it like Dungeons & Dragons, without a dungeon master, everyone just ends up stealing gold and skipping the story.

Connection = Human Bond + Emotional Stakes + Community

• Human Bond: A real relationship with the teacher
  
• Emotional Stakes: Belief that the outcome matters to them
  
• Community: Cohort mates, peer groups, group chat rituals
  

This is what turns your course from a silent library into a Jedi Council. Without connection, learning is lonely. And lonely students quit.
