In the last week, I was shocked by the number of people whom I spoke to who were not willing to make even small, temporary sacrifices to change their lives…
Maybe I was like those birds that hide their heads in the sand…
… What were they called? Chickens? Tucans? Dodos?
Regardless, that does not matter.
The point is that they may have been living in a proverbial gated community for the last 10 years. At least 99% of my good friends are business owners and entrepreneurs.
This is a formula we live by.
“What do I sacrifice today to grow tomorrow?”
Wake up early and sacrifice sleep to go to the gym.
Say no to the fancy car to reinvest in the growth of the business.
The choice for us is obvious since, if we have been in the game long enough, we have seen it return outsized returns over and over again.
But in the last two weeks, I stepped out of my normal circles and talked to people where this was not the norm, and it threw me for a square… wait, no, a loop.
There were people who made good amounts of money but lived in some of the most expensive places in the world and complained about money.
I hung out with people who would not say no to that last slice of pizza but said no to going for a walk to get some exercise.
Once I started looking, I noticed it everywhere.
People who were not happy with life but were not willing to make small, short-term sacrifices to change them.
Was it always this way?
P.S. Oh ya… Ostrich.
