I was scrolling through my feed the other day and realized something strange.
Most of the guys consistently posting business-growth content online seem to be playing the same character: ripped, slightly sweaty, swearing like it’s a punctuation mark, and telling you you’re an idiot but not to worry because he can fix you.
It’s like they all got together at a secret retreat called “Shirtless HustleCon” and agreed this was the only way to be a successful male entrepreneur online.
The weird part?
I actually know a lot of successful entrepreneurs (men and women), and in my circles, none of them act like this. Most are just… normal. Some are even dangerously wholesome.
To be clear, I’m not asking why the oiled-up-alphas make content. They have an audience, it works for them, fine. My question is: why don’t more of the other types of entrepreneurs do the same?
Speaking for myself (a middle-aged dad with a happy marriage, who stays fit but doesn’t think 7% body fat is a moral obligation, who has no interest in buying a sports car for a midlife crisis), where are my people?
The short answer: they exist, but they’re harder to find because the internet doesn’t reward balance and stability.
The algorithm likes extremes.
Yelling “YOU’RE DOING LIFE WRONG” while flexing?
Viral.
Quietly running a profitable, unsexy business while also making it to your kid’s soccer game?
Not so much.
So if your feed feels like it’s full of protein powder commercials disguised as wisdom… maybe the people you want to learn from aren’t screaming into TikToks at 3 am.
They’re probably on podcasts, writing blogs, or quietly hanging out in small, intentional communities.
And now I want to start a list: “Happily Married Dad Entrepreneurs Who Won’t Yell at You.” Who’s in?
